Connecticut-based People’s United Financial Inc. has officially named John P. (Jack) Barnes as CEO.
Barnes was also named president and CEO of the company’s subsidiary, People’s United Bank.
He has been acting as interim president and CEO since Philip R. Sherringham left that position in April.
Barnes joined the organization as senior executive vice president and chief administration officer following the acquisition of Chittenden Corp. in 2008. He had worked for Chittenden bank since 1983 and, before that, for the FDIC in Boston.
