The MetroWest Chamber of Commerce has named Reyad Shah as its new president and CEO.
"I am honored to take on this new role and continue serving the MetroWest community that I am so proud to call home. The chamber has always been a cornerstone of support for local businesses and organizations, and I am excited to build on that foundation by introducing new initiatives and strengthening our partnerships across the region,” Shah said in a Tuesday press release from the chamber.
Shah's hiring marks the chamber's first president and CEO of color, he said.
Shah comes to his current role having most recently served as executive director of Downtown Framingham, Inc., a nonprofit working to bolster the area’s economic and cultural landscape.
Prior to his executive roles, Shah acted as manager of Flyers After School within the Framingham Public Schools system, overseeing all afterschool programming for the city’s three middle schools, high school, and continuing education program.
Shah replaces Jim Giammarinaro, who will act as interim leader for the chamber until mid-October when Shah is fully onboarded.
“[Shah’s] appointment marks a significant step forward in the chamber's mission to support and advocate for the diverse needs of the MetroWest business community,” Craig Lizotte, the chamber’s board chair, said in the release.
Founded in 1895, the MetroWest chamber has 350 members and two full-time-equivalent employees, according to information provided to the WBJ Research Department.
