As candidates and potential contenders for the White House stampede in and out of neighboring New Hampshire, Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker is keeping his distance from presidential politics.
On Monday, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, the son and brother of former U.S. presidents, announced his candidacy in Miami.
Bush, the latest Republican to formally declare his intentions, was scheduled to swing through New Hampshire, the longtime home of the first-in-the-nation primary, on Tuesday. Several Democrats, including former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, are also running.
Asked by a reporter if he supports Bush, Baker said, "I'm not supporting anybody."
"At the same time, I'm supporting everybody," Baker added while at an event in Boston's Financial District. "I hope everybody enjoys their opportunity to get to know the American people and to spend time out there on the campaign trail."
Referencing his unsuccessful run for governor in 2010 and the more favorable reception in last year's campaign, Baker said, "I certainly consider my two statewide races to be among the most educational, informative and important learning experiences of my life, and I hope they turn out to be that way for them. But the voters of Massachusetts did not vote for me to kibitz in presidential politics."
