Vice President & Team Leader, Middlesex Savings
Company location: Westborough
Residence: Holden
Age: 35
Career highlights: My first position in banking was as a loan review analyst at Eastern Bank. I realized almost immediately I wanted to be on the line working every day with commercial customers. I became a portfolio manager in the business banking group and learned the business from some very strong commercial lenders. When I moved to the Worcester area, I took the opportunity to become a real estate lender at Banknorth to diversify my lending experience. I joined Middlesex Savings Bank in 2005 as a commercial lender and was promoted to team leader of the west region in 2009.
Community involvement: I became involved in Habitat for Humanity through a building project in Millbury, where I lived for a number of years. Initially, I volunteered for the local project committee and became very passionate about the cause. I went on to serve as the board liaison between the Millbury project committee and then joined the board and became the treasurer.
Biggest success: My biggest success professionally is gaining the credibility and respect of my colleagues, customers and business associates at a young age. I have worked very hard over the past 12 years to continuously push myself past my comfort zone and learn all that I can.
Biggest challenge: My biggest challenge is balancing advancing my career with being a good mom to my boys. The requirements of my job become greater and greater as I advance and the balance is harder to find.
Mentors: My first team leader, Paul Kurker, was my most significant professional mentor. I learned the art of building business relationships from him. He gave me the confidence to pursue my goals. Personally, my parents have also been mentors. They have instilled in me a strong work ethic and perseverance.
