Workers strike for higher wages

Employees of New England Health Care went on strike in Hartford and Columbia this morning against Sunrise Northeast, a state contracted care provider for the mentally retarded, picketing for new contracts including medical benefits and wages. “We had negotiations last night,” Deborah Chernoff, a union spokeswoman, told the Associated Press. “We were not able to reach agreement.”
