The city of Worcester has received a grant worth up to $20,000 toward “greening projects” of planting trees throughout the community.

The grant was issued through the TD Green Streets program that is a partnership with TD Bank and the Arbor Day Foundation. The funding will be used to implement tree planting, maintenance costs, and educational activities, according to a release from the organization. The goal is to enhance the community’s green spaces.

Worcester was one of ten grant recipients, including Providence.

In the last year the city has put $21.5 million into streets and sidewalks, according to City Manager Edward Augustus, and the city is planning a $7.5 million project to reshape Main Street in the heart of the city.
