Worcester Police Land More Federal Funding

The Worcester Police Department will receive more than $75,000 in federal funding to help improve forensic investigations and medical examiner services, U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern, D-Worcester, announced.

The award comes on the heels of a separate grant of $177,285, also announced this week, that will help the city pay for police overtime that will allow officers to attend community and neighborhood watch meetings, as well as participate in targeted prostitution stings.

The additional $75,252 can also be used to eliminate backlogs in analyzing forensic evidence and train and employ forensic laboratory personnel to get rid of those backlogs.
