The current owner of the Worcester Market building is expanding his Worcester property holdings with a nearly $3-million acquisition of two apartment buildings just a few blocks away.
Whiting Building LLC, controlled by Dmitry Zhivotovsky of New Hampshire, purchased 49 and 43 Austin Street for $2.9 million Monday from Alaro Realty & Development Corp.
Both are four-story buildings and were built in 1890. In total, the properties contain about 36,000 square feet of living space.
The properties were last assessed in 2018 for a combined $2.6 million.
Zhivotovsky bought the Worcester Market building from Worcester property owner Philip Shwachman in 2014 for $1.75 million. Shwachman is the owner of the Draper mill complex in Hopedale.
The Worcester Market building has been largely vacant since that purchase, but now an adult day health center occupies the first floor.
The building is both listed for sale and lease on LoopNet.
