Presidential horseshoes
St. Pierre Chain & Wire Rope has been manufacturing pitching horseshoes in Worcester since 1930, initially as a side business to making tire chains and then later anchor chains for the U.S. Navy. In 2017, the company was invited to a Made in America event at The White House and presented a set of pitching horseshoes to then President Donald Trump.
Trivia question: Which U.S. president was an enthusiastic player of horseshoes and counted his set made by St. Pierre as his favorite?
And the answer to last edition’s question: Sprague Electric, which made a special silicon disc for Apollo 11 astronauts to leave messages from world leaders on the Moon, is now known as Allegro MicroSystems.
