Email Curmudgeon
Our Digital Diva took issue with people who leave signatures on their emails like, “Sent from my iPhone.” But it turns out not everyone agrees that such messages are pretentious.

"A message containing an indicator that I am 'away from my desk' has been quite beneficial to my relationship with my clients… The gentle reminder that comes at the bottom of an email originated while 'on the road' helps them remember that while I am available to them, I am not always at the 'ready' waiting for them to reach out to me."

Tech Wars
News that even an IT giant like Hopkinton-based EMC Corp. can fall prey to a cyber attack made headlines recently. Companies large and small would be well served to take such threats seriously, according to one reader.

"The dollar costs (of cyber attacks) to businesses can be substantial, which is why prevention planning is important. Businesses may want to consider cyber liability insurance as a way to reduce the financial risk that such attacks create."

Not So Cold After All
We ran an article in our March 14 edition about complaints from energy contractors about a state-run incentive program for efficiency upgrades that must run through Westborough-based Conservation Services Group. But several contracts took to WBJournal.com to state their support for CSG and the state incentives.

"I've worked in the utility program with CSG and find it very beneficial as an independent contractor. Although I was an early adopter of diagnostic tools like thermal imaging and a blower door system, CSG has helped us improve our installation practices. Although their standards are very high it's important for quality, energy performance, and customer satisfaction."
