STEERING YOUTH INTO MANUFACTURING
The recent conference in Worcester that focused on how to make the manufacturing industry more attractive to high school and college students (April 17, WBJournal.com) drew a provocative comment that suggested a “supply side” approach to the discussion.
"Why not convene a panel of students (high school and college, specifically, and especially those from the Central Massachusetts area, as these are the students we want to retain locally) and ask them what would attract them to careers in manufacturing?" ~ Online reader brm90
AN MBA, AT WHAT COST?
Does a college degree have to be so expensive? After our story on the addition of 23 new online degree and certificate programs from the University of Massachusetts (April 9, WBJournal.com), we received this comment:
"According to DegreeRegistry.org, a general MBA can be obtained for as little as $6K and as high as $120K. If students would do a little research, they would find that it is not nearly as expensive to get a college degree." ~ Online reader williamsgeorge229
