VMWare To Buy $200M In EMC Technologies

VMWare, a California server virtualization company, has agreed to purchase $200 million worth of products from its parent company, Hopkinton-based computer storage giant EMC.

VMWare will purchase the technology, intellectual property, as well as rights to engineer, market and sell the EMC products in the United States and Europe. It will sell the products as part of the company's suite of IT products.

The technologies are from EMC's Ionix IT management sector and help improve management of servers in a virtualized data center. The deal will allow VMWare to offer products that meet "stringent compliance standards," according to the company.
