Virtusa Corp. has partnered with Tokyo’s Hitachi, setting the stage for more opportunities in Japan for the Westborough company.
The two companies have been working together since 2015. Virtusa’s technology services have been paired with Hitachi’s information-technology systems in initial work helping Japanese financial institutions optimize operations as well as support the implementation of large technology transformation programs. Virtusa offers services such as a large-scale, multi-country insurance claims system for a leading, global insurer.
Hitachi has been integral to Virtusa entering the Japanese market, according to Jim Francis, executive vice president at Virtusa.
“Penetration into the Japanese market would never be truly effective without a well-known and respected company such as Hitachi,” he said.
Working together, the two companies will be able to serve organizations that need to modernize their systems. In a joint press release, the two companies cited a high need for new technology and technology services in the banking and financial services, insurance and healthcare industries.
This most recent partnership is just part of an ongoing expansion for Virtusa, which includes a $166-million purchase of stock, giving it a majority interest in Polaris Consulting & Services and creating a global provider of IT services to the financial industry with annual revenue of $826 million.
