Six Central Mass. companies named by Newsweek as most responsible

The Hanover Insurance Group, Inc. in Worcester announced on Tuesday it has been named one of “America’s Most Responsible Companies” by the magazine Newsweek.

In addition to the Hanover Insurance Group, five other Central Massachusetts companies were honored by Newsweek for their community and environmental efforts. Virtusa Corp. in Southborough, TJX Cos. in Framingham, Boston Scientific in Marlborough, Insulet Corp. in Acton, and Hologic in Marlborough were named “America’s Most Responsible Companies”.

The responsibility award is given to companies demonstrating a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility, with a focus on environmental, social, and corporate governance factors, per the Hanover press release.

The list includes 499 companies nationwide who were selected based on publicly available key performance indicators derived from corporate sustainability and responsibility reports, sustainability reports, and corporate citizenship reports, as well as an independent survey.

“We look forward to continuing to deliver innovative, high-quality, and dependable insurance solutions for our agents and customers while being responsible stewards of our environment, helping build stronger and healthier communities, and managing our company and our actions with integrity,” said Hanover Insurance President and CEO John Roche, in the press release.
