The Patrick administration said Tuesday that the unadjusted unemployment rates for November rose slightly, although job gains were seen in Central Massachusetts.
The unadjusted unemployment rate of 5.2 percent, which reflects seasonal fluctuations, was up .1 percent from October and down 1.5 percent from last October. In Central Massachusetts, job gains were reported for Framingham, Worcester, and the Leominster-Fitchburg-Gardner areas. Job losses occurred in the Barnstable, Springfield, Haverhill-North Andover-Amesbury, and Pittsfield areas.
The seasonally adjusted statewide November unemployment rate, released on December 18th, was 5.8 percent, down 0.2 of a percentage point over the month and down 1.3 percent over the year. The rate was the same as the national unemployment rate. The statewide seasonally adjusted jobs estimate showed a 13,500 job gain in November and a year-over-year gain of 59,600 jobs.
The unadjusted unemployment rates and job estimates for the labor market areas reflect seasonal fluctuations and therefore may show different levels and trends than the statewide seasonally adjusted estimates.
