The Patrick administration said Tuesday that unadjusted unemployment rates for October were down across the state, with job gains in the three major urban areas: Boston, Worcester and Springfield.
The unadjusted unemployment rate of 5.1 percent, which reflects seasonal fluctuations, was down 1.1 percent from September and 1.8 percent from last October. The largest job gains over September were recorded in the Boston area, followed by Worcester and Springfield, according to the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development (EOLWD).
The seasonally adjusted statewide October unemployment rate, released last week, remained unchanged over the month at 6 percent, but down 1.2 percent over October 2013. The seasonally adjusted job estimate showed a gain of 1,200 jobs in October with an over-the-year gain of 52,600, according to the EOLWD.
