Marlborough-based CNC machining firm J&J Machine Co. has rebranded as Bristol Precision.
The new name comes as the firm seeks to enter its next chapter a decade after being acquired by President Devin Brown, who has worked to increase the firm’s advanced manufacturing capabilities, according to a Monday press release from the company.
“Our transition to Bristol Precision represents the company we’ve become: a highly skilled, technology-driven, and customer-focused organization,” Brown said in the press release. “The name Bristol Precision draws inspiration from the nautical term ‘shipshape and Bristol fashion,’ signifying readiness, precision, and reliability: qualities that define our work and our commitment to our customers.”
Bristol Precision uses computer numerical control machines, better known as CNC machines, to manufacture parts for the medical, aerospace, and scientific sectors. These machines use computer controls to operate grinder, lathes, lasers, and other tools to shape and create parts.
Bristol Precision has AS9100 certification, a globally-recognized quality management system used by the aerospace and defense industries, as well as ISO 13485 certification, an international standard used for medical devices.
The firm received just over $185,000 from the Massachusetts Manufacturing Accelerate Program in 2023 to buy equipment to help increase efficiency with its precision component milling operations.
