retention of a diverse faculty. Rosal will co-chair the provost's faculty recruitment task force, which aims to advance the school's faculty diversity goals.

Rosal, pending final board approval, will also be named the inaugural recipient of UMass Medical School's newest endowed faculty position, which was created specifically to support the faculty member who serves as vice provost for health equity. The endowed chair, the first to be established by an alumnus of the medical school, is named after Dr. Imoigele Aisiku, the chief of the division of emergency critical care medicine at Brigham Health.

Rosal's research focuses on the prevention and management of chronic health conditions posing a significant burden to racial and ethnic minorities and socio-economically disadvantaged populations. For more than a decade, she was a member of UMass Medical School's Faculty Diversity Scholars Program Oversight Committee, part of her efforts during her tenure at the school to prioritize health equity.
