TJX Cos. has elected a former executive at UBS Wealth Management USA as its newest director.
Rosemary Berkery is the 11-person board's fifth female member. The executive chair of the board is Carol Meyrowitz, TJX's former CEO, who announced Berkery's appointment in a statement Monday.
TJX, which has its headquarters in Framingham and Marlborough, did not say who Berkery replaced, but the company said in its annual report earlier this year that one director, Jose Alvarez, a faculty member at the Harvard Business School, was not standing for re-election this year after more than a decade with the board.
Berkery, 65, was the chairman of UBS Bank USA and vice chairman of UBS Wealth Management Americas, a bank and a wealth management firm, from 2010 until this April. She also served as CEO of UBS Bank USA from 2010 to 2015, and previously spent 25 years at Merrill Lynch & Co. until 2009.
Berkery is also listed as a member of the board of directors at Texas-based engineering company Fluor Corp.
