The Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts, based in Worcester, announced its founding president and CEO, Jan Yost, will retire this spring and be replaced by the current vice president for programs, Amie Shei.
Shei has served as the vice president for programs for more than five years.
“The board has implemented its succession/sustainability plan with deep appreciation to Dr. Yost for her acumen in creating and fostering the foundation’s grantmaking avenues and with the confidence that Dr. Shei will enthusiastically and effectively further our impactful grantmaking in partnership with area nonprofit organizations,” said Judge Tim Bibaud, chairman of the board, in a press release dated Wednesday.
Yost’s retirement comes after nearly 23 years with the organization, which she founded in 2000 with $60 million in assets, according to the foundation’s press release.
Since then, the organization has awarded grants over $50 million for Central Massachusetts health endeavors, now with assets valued at roughly $95 million, according to its press release.
The Health Foundation arose after the sale of Central Massachusetts Health Care, Inc, a not-for-profit HMO, to a for-profit health insurance company. The foundation has six employees, according to its latest filing with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service.
