Sutton will formally unveil its new 200-kilowatt photovoltaic system at the Simonian Center for Early Learning on May 17.
The roof-mounted solar panels have been generating electricity since Jan. 3.
The town decided to install the panels when the school’s roof needed to be replaced last year, with the idea of reducing electricity costs.
The project received $170,000 through grants from the Department of Environmental Resources Green Communities division.
