Slight Rise In Mass. Unemployment
The state's unemployment rate stood at 8.2 percent in November, up slightly from 8.1 percent in October, according to the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.
The number of jobs in the state dropped by 8,600 to 3.2 million, according to preliminary numbers from the office. The greatest losses came in the leisure and hospitality industry.
Over the year, the state gained 32,000 jobs, while unemployment dropped by 1 percentage point.
The state's unemployment situation is significantly better than the nation's. U.S. unemployment was 9.8 percent for November.
