Jobless claims jump

Nine thousand more Americans filed for unemployment insurance during the week ended Aug. 25 than during the previous week, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. The department said 334,000 people filed for unemployment benefits last week, compared to 325,000 the week before. The department’s four-week moving average was 324,500, an increase of 6,250 from the previous week.
