Siemens Lands German Contract
Siemens VAI, which operates a division in Worcester, has been awarded a contract from a German manufacturer to upgrade its wire rod mill.
The three-year contract with Badische Stahlwerke GmbH in Kehl, Germany is valued in the "medium double-digit million Euro range," Siemens said.
The German company manufactures base material for wire rod products and concrete reinforcing bar, or "rebar."
Siemens will upgrade the plant's automation system for its two-strand wire rod mill and install two new rod outlets.
The second phase of the three-phase project will incorporate a mill, pinch rolls and other products manufactured by Siemens' Worcester division, formerly Morgan Construction Co.
