Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester has added online self-scheduling that will allow those using the emergency department or urgent care to wait at home until their estimated treatment time, the hospital announced Tuesday.
This new service allows two-click scheduling from any device, at any hour for emergency services. It is not a reservation service but is designed to give estimated treatment times based on available resources and allows prospective patients to wait from home, rather than the waiting room, according to the hospital. Service users do not skip the wait, nor are they seen ahead of individuals in the waiting room.
The InQuicker system is designed to filter for certain symptom keywords that may indicate a life threatening or debilitating medical condition, the hospital said. A healthcare provider at Saint Vincent Hospital also reviews all online check-ins for such criteria, directing those indicating life-threatening or debilitating medical conditions to dial 911 or go immediately to the nearest emergency department.
This service from InQuicker has been found to provide higher patient satisfaction, according to the hospital.
