The Massachusetts Association of Realtors has introduced two new indexes, one aimed at quantifying the opinions of working real estate agents.
The monthly Realtor Market Index is meant to complement the “hard” sales data the association publishes each month. The monthly index will survey MAR members on sales activity, price expectations and other questions.
The Realtor Price Index works in a similar way but focuses only on price.
For January, the RMI’s score was 34.3. The RPI was 46.6. Both indexes are scored on a 100-point scale with 50 being neutral.
Respondents are asked to characterize the real estate market as weak, moderate or strong during surveys.
