Natick-based dental laboratory operator National Dentex Corp. reported a second quarter profit of $2.3 million on revenue of $42.8 million.
For the same period a year ago, the company reported a $1.9 million profit on revenue of $44.6 million.
In the first half, National Dentex brought in $84 million in revenue and made $4.4 million in profit. The company made a $3.6 million profit on $88 million in revenue in the first half of 2008.
The company said it managed to increase profits as its sales declined by cutting costs, increasing productivity and taking advantage of decreased materials prices.
Sales have dipped as potential customers put off dental procedures, the company said.
