SAFETY FIRST
The Massachusetts State Police K-9 Unit demonstrated scent tracking at a kids' safety event held outside Commerce Bank at 386 Main St., Worcester. More than 140 children received free identification packages, each containing their DNA sample and fingerprints.
FAMILY SUPPORT
Southbridge-based Savers Bank donated $2,000 to Auburn Youth and Family Services (AYFS), which serves children, young adults and families. The funds will go toward efforts such as individual counseling, after-school programs and a food pantry. Fitchburg-based Workers' Credit Union raised $20,414 for this year's Greater Gardner Relay for Life walk, to benefit cancer research efforts.
Worcester-based Curry Printing held Bridgefest, a festival to support
The Bridge of Central Massachusetts, outside its headquarters. The day included a 5-K run/walk and raffles.
Leominster Credit Union pledged $25,000 to the Boys and Girls Club
of Fitchburg and Leominster for renovation work.
People's United, with offices in Central Massachusetts, donated $4,000 to the Latino Education Institute at Worcester State University.
