Optimism Grows As Women Take Over Household Finances

Results of a survey by public relations firm Weber Shandwick and polling firm KRC Research indicate that Americans have an optimistic outlook for their household finances for the next two years despite the economy’s struggle.

The vast majority of respondents, 81 percent, said they are more responsible with their household’s money than they were two years ago, when the economy crashed.

Sixty percent said they expect to continue the saving pattern they started when the economic downturn began.

Women were more optimistic than men about the coming two years, and were more likely than men to have turned to family for help managing their finances.

Thirty-five percent of women surveyed said they feel more in control of their household finances now compared to two years ago, when 27 percent said they felt in control.
