Not your parents' retirement

Retirement isn't all palm trees and golf courses anymore. Only 33 percent of workers said they plan to completely leave the workforce when they reach retirement age, according to a survey developed by Robert Half Management Resources. Of the nearly 500 office workers surveyed, 24 percent said they would completely change their line of work after retiring from their job. Fourteen percent said they would work as a consultant and another 14 percent said they would work for the same company, but fewer hours. The survey cited employees living longer, financial burdens and an inclination to stay mentally and physically engaged into the golden years as reasons to not completely retire.
