The Association of Independent Colleges and Universities in Massachusetts has elected Debra M. Townsley, president of Nichols College in Dudley, as chair of its executive committee.
Townsley has been president of the college since 1998. She is a member and past chair of the Colleges of Worcester Consortium board of directors, and she serves on the board of the National Association of Independent Colleges & Universities. She is also a commissioner for the New England Association of Schools & Colleges Commission on Institutions of Higher Education.
She has an associate's degree from Northern Virginia Community College, a bachelor's in marketing and management from American University in Washington, D.C., an MBA from George Washington University and a master's in psychology and a Ph.D. in organizational psychology from the University of Vermont.
She lives in Dudley.
