Worcester County reported 17 new coronavirus cases Wednesday, the lowest increase since March 23, according to the Massachusetts Department of public Health.
The notably small increase brought the total to 11,820 in Worcester County. Statewide there were 267 new probable and confirmed cases Tuesday, adding to the 104,156 to date.
Deaths in Worcester County increased by 10, contributing to the 844 local fatalities since the pandemic began. Throughout Massachusetts, there were 46 newly reported probable and confirmed cases who died, which added to the tally of 7,454.
DPH reported 10,930 new coronavirus tests administered Wednesday.
The City of Worcester once again reported an error in the coronavirus case numbers with lower reported numbers than Tuesday. In total, there were a reported 5,029 total in the city compared to the 5,038 the day prior but overall there were 19 new cases on Wednesday. The city credits the possible removal of duplicate cases, false positive test results, and an incorrect address as the reasoning for the adjustment.
UMass Memorial Health Care and Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester reported 93 total inpatient cases and 37 in intensive care. Overall, the hospitals have had 310 coronavirus-related deaths and 350 employees have tested positive for the virus.
MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham and Natick report a total of 30 suspected or confirmed cases and Milford Regional Medical Center reports 13, according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. The hospitals have seen 12 suspected or confirmed cases in the ICU. Heywood Hospital and HealthAlliance in Leominster reported five cases in intensive care.
Nationally, there are close to 2 million cases and 112,726 fatalities, according to Johns Hopkins University in Maryland. Globally, there have been 7.3 million cases and 413,854 deaths.
