Days after a PricewaterhouseCoopers report that put U.S. venture capital investment growth at 19 percent in 2010, a new report by Dow Jones VentureSource claims a more modest 10 percent increase.
The Dow Jones report says VC investors made 2,799 deals worth a total of $26.2 billion. PricewaterhouseCoopers had counted 3,277 deals worth $21.8 billion.
The new report shows the large investment area of health care dropping 7 percent over the year. Another large area, IT, grew by about the same percentage.
Consumer Services saw a huge jump of 67 percent, to $4.4 billion.
