New director makes good horse sense

A 20-year horse trainer and riding instructor has been named the new manager and riding school director at Grafton's Hillside Meadows Equestrian Center.

The new director, Wendy Leo-Johnson, will teach beginners and advanced riders the "correct principles of riding," according to the center.

Also, Leo-Johnson has been charged with making horseback riding more available to families and individuals.

"It's important to me to make the sport of horseback riding open to everyone, not just those who have the means," Leo-Johnson said.

Hillside Meadows is a 70-acre riding and training facility.
