Cordless cure for pain

Natick-based Boston Scientific Corp. said it had launched the world's smallest rechargeable device for the treatment of chronic back and limb pain.

The Precision Plus Spinal Cord Stimulation System is part of a line of products that Boston Scientific claims give the company more than a 25 percent share of the pain management market.

The company said the new system is controlled remotely and is completely cordless. Boston Scientific estimated that 5 million people could be candidates for pain management therapy by the new device.
