Movers & Shakers from the May 24, 2010 Issue

The National Wildlife Federation has named KRISTIN BRANDT, vice president of Natick marketing firm Sundin Associates, to its “Founding Moms Advisory Board.” Brandt, a mother of two young children, is also the co-host and executive editor of “Manic Mommies,” a podcast about working mothers. The 17-member advisory board will support the NWF’s efforts to encourage families to do outdoor activities.

The Hanover Insurance Group of Worcester has appointed ELLEN M. RIZZO as CFO of its property and casualty business. Rizzo previously served as senior vice president and CFO of business insurance at The Travelers Cos., where she worked for more than 25 years. In her new role, Rizzo is responsible for financial oversight of the company’s personal lines, commercial lines and claims organizations.

DOROTHY MANN, the former owner of Dee Mann Real Estate, has joined the Oxford office of Whitinsville-based ERA Key Realty Services. Mann has been in the real estate business for 24 years. She has also held a number of elected positions in Dudley.

The Training Associates of Westborough has hired ROY RUHLING as a recruiter. Ruhling previously worked as a recruiter at Starpoint Solutions in Boston. He has also worked in research and recruiting support at Harvard University. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia and lives in Lawrence.

WERNER POEGEL was named general manager of WPKZ FM and AM 1280, which is owned by Central Broadcasting Co. LLC of Fitchburg. He also runs the local online news company Web-Tech Online Magazines.

Becker College of Worcester has promoted MARY MALONEY to the newly created position of major gifts officer. Maloney, a Becker alumna herself, has served as director of alumni affairs and The Becker Fund since 2006. Altogether, she has nearly 30 years of experience in admissions and alumni relations for high schools and colleges.

Acton drug testing company Psychemedics Corp. has appointed JAMES V. DYKE as vice president of sales. Dyke previously served as vice president of sales for the document messaging technologies operation of Pitney Bowes Corp. He has 23 years of experience, including work in channel management, branch management and major accounts, mainly for Pitney Bowes.

Charter Communications of Worces-ter has appointed TIM NOONAN as operations manager of Connecticut systems. Noonan previously served as manager of systems engineering in Massachusetts for the cable and telecommunications company. He has more than 21 years of experience in the industry, including a stint with Continental Cable.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Massachusetts/MetroWest has elected C. ANDREW MCGADNEY, vice president of university advancement at Clark University in Worces-ter, to its board. Before moving to Clark, McGadney was the director of development at Wesleyan University in Connecticut. He is also a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education.

JONATHAN C. OGLEBAY was promoted to the newly created position of CFO at Hometown Bank of Oxford. He has been with the bank for eight years, rising from senior accountant and controller to assistant vice president. He has an MBA in finance from Boston College and a bachelor’s degree in history from Trinity College in Hartford, Conn.

The Worcester CPA firm Shepherd & Goldstein has hired MARY DUNCAN as tax manager. Duncan has more than 20 years of experience, most recently as a tax manager for West Virginia CPA firm Toothman Rice PLLC. In her new role, she will oversee tax research and compliance for Shepherd & Goldstein. Duncan has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Rutgers University’s Douglass College in New Jersey. She lives in Holden.

Webster One Source, a West Boylston and Hanson printing and mailing company, has promoted WALTER KOENIG to account manager for the Worcester area. Koenig has worked in inside sales for the company since 2008. Before that, he was an account coordinator and inside salesperson at LaVigne Inc. of Worcester for 26 years. He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

DIANE BLOKSBERG has joined Carol Kalil Realty Group of Shrewsbury. Bloksberg has worked in real estate management and accounting for the past 15 years. In particular, she has focused on the management of large condo and apartment complexes.

RCAP Solutions of Gardner and Worcester has hired JAMES P. STARBARD as environmental water and wastewater technician for Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut. In his new position, Starbard will help build the nonprofit community development group’s presence in rural Rhode Island and Connecticut. Starbard has a history of municipal work in water and wastewater. He is now working toward a master’s of occupational and environmental health and safety from Anna Maria College in Paxton. He will work from RCAP’s Worcester office.

Unitil Corp., the New Hampshire-based utility that covers parts of North Central Massachusetts, has re-elected MICHAEL J. DALTON, EDWARD F. GODFRY and EBEN S. MOULTON to its board of directors. All three will serve for three-year terms. Shareholders also ratified Caturano and Co. PC as independent public accountants for 2010.

Leominster Credit Union has promoted BARBARA A. MAHONEY to senior vice president of human resources. Mahoney has been with the credit union since 2003. Before that, she worked for BankBoston for 10 years and then as director of human resources for Allmerica Financial for another 15. She has a bachelor's degree in social rehabilitation from Assumption College in Worcester and attended MBA programs at Assumption and Suffolk University in Boston.

After spending time working in home loans, SONIA M. MAGUIRE has moved to a different side of the real estate business, joining the Milford office of Whitinsville-based ERA Key Realty Services. Maguire previously worked as a mortgage loan processor and accounting clerk at MetroWest Bank in Framingham (now TD Bank). She has also worked in accounts receivable for Goldwell of New England in Holliston. Maguire has an associate's degree in accounting from Mass Bay Community College in Wellesley. She has been in the Milford area for more than 30 years.

SUSAN HAGAR was named vice president of corporate communications and government affairs at Qteros in Marlborough. She previously served as director of corporate communications and investor relations at the global communications agency WCG. She has a bachelor's degree in biology and an MBA from Northeastern University.
