Millbury Savings Bank is building its third branch, a second Worcester location due to open in early 2020.
The new branch at the corner of Grove and North streets is being built at a former Gervais auto body and car wash site that was vacant for years before being knocked down. The Worcester Planning Board approved the project in August 2018.
The new banking location will be Millbury Savings Bank's third, along with an office at 1001 Millbury St. in Worcester and 109 Elm St. in Millbury.
The branch will add to a stretch of Grove Street seeing new retail and office development.
The former Worcester Regional Transit Authority facility at Grove and Sagamore streets is now a 55,000-square-foot retail plaza called the Trolley Yard, with tenants including Starbucks, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Orangetheory Fitness, Hot Table Panini, Sprint, Gentle Dental and Alpha Nail Bar.
The former Jillian's bar and entertainment club next to the Trolley Yard is being converted into an O'Reilly Auto Parts store, and at a former manufacturing site across the street, a 51,000-square-foot office building at 288 Grove St. will include a Fallon Health Summit ElderCare program.
