Business confidence in Massachusetts rose by 2.7 points in March after falling slightly in February, according to the Associated Industries of Massachusetts Business Confidence Index.
The index hit 46.8 last month, resuming a steady climb begun last July that was interrupted in February when it fell to 44.1 from 45.8 the prior month.
A score of 50 is considered neutral. The index hit an all-time low of 33.3 in February 2009.
AIM characterized businesses that responded to the survey upon which the index is based as "slightly positive."
"The good news is the most serious crisis of confidence is in the past," AIM said. However, the index's monthly increases have been slowing since the middle of last year.
The Current Index, which asks employers to characterize present conditions, increased by 11.5 points to 51.4, a level it hasn't seen since December 2007.
The Future Index hit 50, a 1.7-point increase over February.
The Company Index also hit 51.4. All other AIM indexes remained below 50 during the month.
