(Updated at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 7) A Littleton-based division of defense contractor Curtiss-Wright Corp. has been sold to a Minneapolis manufacturer, the two companies announced late last week.
Curtiss-Wright, based in Charlotte, N.C., said it sold its Engineered Packaging business, formerly known as Hybricon, to Atrenne Integrated Solutions, an affiliate of RFE Investment Partners. Atrenne has manufacturing operations in the U.S. and China.
There are 48 employees in Littleton, according to a spokeswoman for Atrenne.
Founded in 1978, the Engineered Packaging business was sold to Curtiss-Wright in 2010. The division makes packaging materials for the military and aerospace industries that are designed to withstand heat, shock, vibration, acceleration, humidity, sand, dust, salt and other elements and factors.
“This is significant for our company and customers," said Jan Erik Mathiesen, Atrenne’s CEO, in a statement. “We will be able to invest in high-potential market opportunities, ultimately delivering exciting new technologies to our customer base.”
Neither company disclosed a price on the transaction.
