Q. What challenges do you see in your new position?
A. I feel a major challenge will be in assisting management staff at our nine locations statewide in achieving performance outcomes. This includes job placing both adults and youth with limited education and work experience in the current challenging job market and poor economy.

Q. What's your favorite thing about Central Massachusetts?
A. Everything you need is here - it's so versatile in recreational activities, educational opportunities, business and retail, climate, topography - and we are still close to both Boston and Western Massachusetts and can enjoy their amenities as well.

Q. How close is this to what you imagined in high school you'd end up doing?
A. Pretty close. I always knew I wanted to work at something that involved helping others. I started out with TRA in a direct service role working with teen parents and helping them improve every aspect of their lives. As vice president of operations and compliance, I feel I will be able to continue to help others on a higher level by impacting systems and policies.

Q. How far is your commute to the office?
A. 23 miles.

Q. What could local and state governments do to make things better for your business?
A. Have a more complete understanding of the many valuable services we provide to educationally and economically disadvantaged residents throughout the commonwealth and support the efforts of private, nonprofits such as TRA through increased funding.

Q. What's the best way to keep your energy and motivation up when you're having a long day?
A. Chocolate.

Q. Where's the best place to get lunch near your new location?
A. Ping's Garden.

Q. Do you have any hobbies outside of work?
A. I like to read and spend time with my family.

Q. What's on your to-do list for the next couple of days?
A. I am, both joyfully and sadly, bringing my eldest daughter to Boston College and my youngest to preschool for the first time.
