There is a new board member at Gardner’s Precision Optics Corporation, as the company continues to focus on expanding to new customers and diversified products.
It was announced Monday that Joel Pitlor had resigned from the board and will be replaced by Andrew Miclot. Miclot is currently CEO and Director of Micro Machine Company. Prior to joining Micro Machine, he was Executive Vice President of Micro Technologies, a medical device supplier, according to a release from Precision Optics.
According to board chairman Peter Woodward, Miclot’s experience in the medical industry will serve Precision Optics as it seeks to expand its offerings in the area of endoscopes and medical devices. Woodward also recognized Pitlor for his involvement with Precision Optics as a director, adviser to the CEO and as shareholder for over 25 years.
Precision Optics has been a manufacturer of optical instruments since 1982. The company is focusing on new products, with income from new products up to 71 percent of overall income for the company in the first six months of the year.
The company currently has a line of medical instruments that include endoscopes and endocouplers as well as custom illumination and imaging products for use in minimally invasive surgical procedures. Company officials believe that advances in its proprietary micro-optics and 3D imaging technologies present significant opportunities for expanding applications to numerous potential medical products and procedures, according to Precision Optics.
