WPI makes big data college value list

Worcester Polytechnic Institute has been named to a list of the Top 50 Best Value Big Data Graduate Programs of 2016, highlighting the value that the school’s programs represent as one of four in Massachusetts to make the list.

The lists have been rolling out for years on college values for an undergraduate education, but this listing seeks to guide graduate students towards getting the best value for degrees in data analytics, business analytics, or business intelligence. According to Value Colleges, an independent online guide to the best values in undergraduate and graduate college education, big data is an area set for continued growth, with projected employee shortages in the millions.

WPI made the list along with five other Massachusetts schools, including Bentley University, Boston University, Brandeis University and University of Massachusetts. The list was made up of accredited institutions that “offer a strong balance between cost and return,” according to Value Colleges. The top 50 are ranked using data from the U.S. News & World Report rankings, PayScale and tuition cost.
