JetBlue to stop offering flights to JFK out of Worcester in June

JetBlue will no longer book direct flights from the Worcester Regional Airport to John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens, New York after June 14.

The airline announced on April 10 that it will add two additional flights to Florida to its offerings from Worcester. JetBlue currently offers a morning flight from Worcester to New York, but the option to book that flight does not exist on the airline’s website from June 15 onward. Customers using the JetBlue site can continue to book the afternoon American Airlines flight, but the flight is not operated by JetBlue.

Worcester airport director Andy Davis told the Telegram and Gazette that JetBlue would phase out the JFK flight as the Florida routes expand. Delta and American Airlines will still offer direct flights from Worcester to JFK.

The JetBlue flight to JFK is listed as low as $70 dollars round-trip from Worcester, while the American Airlines flight is not priced lower than $170 on any bookable dates.

Officials at JetBlue did not respond to a WBJ request for information.

That's too bad, I was hoping to see the Worcester airport being able to expand its destination offerings. Boston's Logan airport is hard to get to and in and out of.

If JetBlue won't do an early morning flight, hopefully American will consider adding one (or moving their afternoon flight). If the only flights are in the afternoon, then a single-day round trip isn't viable anymore.
