The Jane Fund of Central Massachusetts, a Holden-based abortion fund, is among 11 community-based organizations across the commonwealth selected to split $4.1 million in state funding to improve reproductive healthcare, including access to abortion.

The Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts, which offers services at offices in Marlborough and Worcester, is among the 11 organizations splitting the $4.1 million, according to a Wednesday announcement from the Gov. Charlie Baker Administration.

Part of the National Network of Abortion Funds, the Jane Fund is a volunteer-run organization providing financial resources for abortions. It is a sub-grantee of Tides for Reproductive Freedom, a coalition of three abortion funds in Massachusetts.

Half of the grant funds will come from the state’s fiscal 2023 budget, which appropriated $2 million for reproductive health access and security improvements. The other $2.1 million is from a reserve fund allocated for family planning services in Massachusetts.

“Funding provided by these awards will support the infrastructure and capacity of reproductive health providers throughout the Commonwealth to ensure that sexual and reproductive health services are accessible to all Massachusetts residents and other individuals who may come to our state to seek care,” Margret Cooke, commissioner for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, said in the Wednesday announcement.

The funds are intended for use in training providers, expanding abortion services in new regions, and enabling an increase in telehealth utilization for reproductive care.

The other organizations splitting the state funding are Boston Medical Center, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Cambridge Health Alliance, Health Imperatives in Brockton, HealthQ in Lawrence, Women's Health Services in Brookline, and the other two sub-grantees of Tides for Reproductive Freedom: Abortion Rights Fund of Western Massachusetts and Eastern Massachusetts Abortion Fund.
