The MBTA Commuter Rail’s express train from Worcester to Boston will begin running again after being closed for roughly two years due to the coronavirus pandemic, the MBTA announced Tuesday.

The Heart to Hub train brings passengers from Worcester to Boston in about one hour, with a train to Boston in the morning and one back to Worcester in the evening. It will begin running May 23.

The express train began running in 2016, but was cut during most of the pandemic, with the exception of November 2020.

Heart to Hub’s reopening is part of the MBTA’s spring/summer 2022 commuter rail schedule updates, which also included cuts to the Worcester Line. Starting May 2, six Worcester Line trains were eliminated to allow for construction at Union Station.
