Grandma, The Entrepreneur

A lot of baby boomers start their own businesses, so the Small Business Administration has developed a web site just for the 50-year-old plus entrepreneur: www.sba.gov/50plusentrepreneur.

The site helps users consider the benefits and rewards of owning a business, and includes a way to determine whether they're ready to open a business. It also includes information on borrowing and credit and inspirational stories by successful older entrepreneurs.

The SBA believes that the ranks of older entrepreneurs will grow in the coming years, pointing to a statistic provided by the Kauffman Foundation, which found Americans aged 55 to 64 form small businesses at the highest rate of any age group - 28 percent higher than the adult average.
