Gov. Deval Patrick has signed an agreement with the president of Chile to expand collaboration between Massachusetts and the South American country, which purchases $62 billion in Massachusetts exports annually, Patrick’s office announced.
The agreement, similar to one signed in March with Israel, came on the first day of Patrick’s nine-day trade mission to the continent, where he will also visit Brazil.
Patrick said the relationship would focus on clean energy, biotechnology and education.
State entities such as the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center and the University of Massachusetts system will take part in the memorandum of understanding.
