The Gov. Charlie Baker Administration will begin distributing $500 payments to 500,000 low-income workers in March as part of a $4 billion spending plan for American Rescue Plan Act funds, Baker’s office announced Tuesday.
The $460 million program was created in December when the spending plan received final approval.Â
Workers will be eligible if their income in 2020 was at least $12,750, with their total income below 300% of the federal poverty level, using information from that year’s state tax returns.
The maximum total income for a single filer with no dependents will be $38,280, as an example. Baker’s office released a chart showing various household income thresholds.
Those who received unemployment compensation in 2020 will not be eligible for the first round of payments.
