Give restaurants a meals-tax break
The Massachusetts House recently rejected a Republican-led proposal for a holiday from the state's 6.25-percent meals tax at the end of July. Proponents argue that restaurant owners could use such a break, since the industry has been hit hard by weather and higher food and health care costs. Last week, our readers overwhelmingly agreed that restaurants — and diners — deserve a temporary reprieve.
