The developer behind a planned 421-unit residential development proposal on Franklin Street in Worcester is reducing the number of apartments by 14% while making room for more parking.
The 274 Franklin Street project was initially approved by the Worcester Planning Board in April 2022 with 421 residential units. The new proposal from Worcester developer GoVenture Capital Group calls for 364, according to a revised site plan submitted to the City by Hannigan Engineering, Inc. of Leominster.
The original proposal announced 360 parking spaces in an internal parking garage. The new plan incorporates a detached garage with 374 spaces and 73 surface spaces for a total of 447.
The planning board will review the new proposal on Nov. 30.
The project is one of several residential projects proposed within half-mile of Union Station, including 370 units on Mulberry Street in a development called Alta on the Row (formerly Alta Seven Hills) by Georgia developer Wood Partners, 171 units at The Cove on Green Street by V10 Development of Boston, and a 105-unit development by Boston-based AKROS Development at the former site of Fairway Beef.
GoVenture is also the developer for The Kiln, a 111-unit development opening in early 2023 on Brooks Street in Worcester’s Greendale neighborhood.
